Pets & Service Animals

Animals at the Arboretum!

The Arboretum is a pet-friendly location. All animals must be leashed and have their waste picked up. Owners are responsible for ensuring pets do not disturb other visitors (human or animal) during their visit. Visitors with unruly animals will be asked to leave the premises. If you are unsure if your pet can be respectful during your visit, it is best to leave them at home. Do not leave pets in cars. The Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens reserves the right to change the acceptance of non-service animals on the grounds at any time.

Visitors with Emotional Support Animals (ESA's) are welcome to visit the Arboretum however, should their ESA become unruly, they will be asked to leave the premises.

Service Animals

Our organization follows the guidelines of the American Disability Act (ADA). Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets.

Mobility-Friendly Guide

Many people traveling with service animals require additional accommodations, but finding the proper information for individual circumstances can be a challenge. That’s why the NCOA created a Mobility-Friendly Travel Guide, to help this group feel empowered to take a trip given their unique needs.
