Explore the Natural Beauty of our Gardens

Visitor's Etiquette Guide

The following rules are in place to protect our plant collections and make sure all visitors have a memorable experience. Remember, the Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens is a living plant museum, not a park or playground. Sports equipment is not permitted within the gardens. We rely on you to act as responsible garden stewards. Please take a moment to review our guidelines for group behavior. Visitors who do not follow these rules may be asked to leave without a refund.

  • For everyone’s safety, please walk, and do not run.
  • Help protect our plants and yourselves by remaining on the paths, not picking flowers, walking in flower beds, or climbing trees.
  • Touching plants is permitted, as long as gentle hands are used.
  • Please leave all fallen leaves, flowers, and other plant materials on the ground.
  • Please respect mosaicultures located throughout the gardens by not touching, climbing, hanging on, or otherwise disturbing them.
  • Do not play in or toss coins, rocks, sand, or toys into water features.
  • Do not pick up or throw rocks.
  • If you notice litter, be a good garden visitor and dispose of the litter in the nearest trash or recycling bin.
  • Please come dressed for the weather as programs may take place inside or out, rain or shine. Shirts and shoes are required at all times.
  • Gardens are a place for people to find peace and serenity – please speak softly.

Thank you for visiting the Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens. We hope you enjoy your visit!
