As you probably know, the BotaniCat arrived at the Arboretum last month. I have been staking pallets around it and have been asked several times what I am doing? If you have not seen it, here is what it looks like.
On the surface, this may seem a little odd. I thought that this addition to our arboretum should have a little backdrop to it. The pallets are not very showy or rustic so we are filling the pallets with a mixture of sphagnum moss and peat moss. Then we will plant flowers in them. From an educational standpoint, this will be an example of how to use a vertical wall to plant in. The flowers we are using to plant this are going to be dark blue petunias and yellow marigolds. The closest we could get to the Panthers purple and gold, and should look something like this when it is finished.
It will take some time for the plants to cover the area, but I believe it will make a nice backdrop to this attraction.
If you have an opinion, please share it with me.
